Penitentiary of New Mexico
Seed & Bloom facilitates class sessions in the areas of horticulture and culinary arts for students at the Penitentiary of New Mexico (PNM). Projects include growing vegetables and flowers outdoors in the greenhouse/surrounding areas, and with controlled growing environments indoors where participants grow veggies and flowers hydroponically. Students also develop skills in healthy recipe preparation and inventing beautiful creations from what has been freshly grown, getting a full experience from seed to harvest and beyond.
Workshops are created with a focus on re-entry, identifying the ways in which the skills that we’re developing make us feel better on a personal level, and can also be a great source of steadiness and fulfillment when considering professional opportunities upon release.
